Upgrading your Contafy plan is a straightforward process that can be completed in minutes through the dashboard. This guide walks you through the upgrade process and subscription management.

How to upgrade

Follow these steps to upgrade to a higher-tier plan:

Step 1: Navigate to subscription settings

  1. Log in to your Contafy dashboard
  2. Go to Dashboard > Setup
  3. Select the Subscription tab

Step 2: Select your new plan

  1. Review the available plans and their features
  2. Toggle between Monthly and Annual billing to see pricing options
  3. Click Mejorar Plan (Upgrade plan) on your desired plan
The Annual billing option provides a 15% discount compared to monthly billing.

Step 3: Apply promotion code (optional)

If you have a promotion code:
  1. Enter the code in the “Código de promoción” field
  2. The discount will be validated and applied at checkout
  3. Invalid or expired codes will display an error message

Step 4: Complete Stripe checkout

After clicking upgrade, you’ll be redirected to Stripe Checkout:
  1. Enter your payment information (credit/debit card)
  2. Confirm your billing details
  3. Review the subscription terms
  4. Click Subscribe to complete the purchase
Do not close the browser window during the checkout process. Wait for the confirmation page.

Step 5: Confirmation

After successful payment:
  1. You’ll be redirected back to Contafy
  2. Your new plan will be activated immediately
  3. All upgraded features become available instantly
  4. You’ll receive a confirmation email with your receipt

Trial period for new subscriptions

When upgrading from Free to Básico or Pro:
  • You receive a 30-day free trial
  • Full access to all plan features during trial
  • No charge until the trial period ends
  • Cancel anytime during the trial at no cost

Trial progress tracking

Monitor your trial in the Current Plan card:
  • Days remaining in trial period
  • Trial progress bar
  • Scheduled billing date after trial
  • Amount that will be charged

Billing cycle changes

Upgrading during active subscription

When upgrading from one paid plan to another:
  • Proration: You’ll be charged the prorated difference immediately
  • Billing cycle: Your existing billing cycle continues
  • Next renewal: The next charge will be for the new plan’s full amount

Switching from monthly to annual

You can switch billing cycles through the Stripe customer portal:
  1. Go to Subscription settings
  2. Click Administrar facturación en Stripe
  3. Select your subscription
  4. Update the billing interval
  5. Confirm the change
The new billing cycle takes effect at your next renewal date.

Managing your subscription

Accessing the Stripe portal

The Stripe customer portal allows you to manage various aspects of your subscription:
  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Setup > Subscription
  2. In the “Plan Actual” (Current plan) card
  3. Click Administrar facturación en Stripe
  4. You’ll be redirected to the secure Stripe portal

What you can do in the portal

Through the Stripe customer portal, you can:
  • Update payment method: Change or update your credit/debit card
  • View invoices: Download past payment receipts and CFDIs
  • Update billing information: Modify billing address and tax details
  • Cancel subscription: Downgrade or cancel your plan
  • View payment history: Review all past transactions
All changes made in the Stripe portal sync automatically with your Contafy account.

Downgrading your plan

You can downgrade to a lower-tier plan through the Stripe portal:
  1. Access the Stripe customer portal (see above)
  2. Select your active subscription
  3. Click Cancel plan or Update plan
  4. Choose a lower tier or cancel entirely

Important notes about downgrading

Downgrading takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You’ll retain access to premium features until then.
  • Data retention: All your data remains intact when downgrading
  • Feature access: Premium features become unavailable after the period ends
  • Limit enforcement: Lower plan limits apply at the start of the next billing cycle
  • No refunds: Partial refunds are not provided for downgrades mid-cycle

Exceeding limits after downgrade

If you exceed the limits of your new plan:
  • Profiles: You won’t be able to add new RFCs until you’re under the limit
  • XML files: Upload restrictions apply once the monthly limit is reached
  • Features: Advanced features (PDF/Excel export, API) become unavailable

Enterprise plan

The Empresarial plan is not available through self-service upgrade:
  • Requires direct contact with the sales team
  • Custom pricing based on volume and requirements
  • Personalized onboarding and setup
  • Dedicated account manager assigned

  • Include your current usage volume
  • Describe your specific requirements
  • Mention any custom integration needs

Payment issues

Failed payments

If a payment fails:
  1. Your subscription status changes to PAST_DUE
  2. You’ll receive email notifications from Stripe
  3. Stripe automatically retries the payment
  4. Update your payment method in the Stripe portal

Unpaid subscriptions

If payment issues aren’t resolved:
  1. After multiple failed attempts, status becomes UNPAID
  2. Access to premium features may be restricted
  3. Your account won’t be deleted
  4. Resolve payment issues to restore full access
